Pearl Fashion: Black Tie on the Fly

If you heard it said once, you will hear it a million times…when in doubt, look to your little black dress. Going to a cocktail dinner? Look to the black dress. May be attending a black tie affair? Then the little black dress is necessary. Meeting friends at the club? Yeah, the little black dress works well there too.

Thanks to many of our favorite designers, you can find a cute black dress almost everywhere and in every shape, textures, and with small accents of color and embellishments. There is no excuse to not have a little black dress.

Won’t everyone be wearing a black dress? Well, yes the chances are likely that you and a few other people will be wearing the fashion staple, but that does not mean that you won’t stand out in the sea of black. How you ask? Easily with the accessories that you choose, your choice of makeup colors, and how you wear your hair. Here are a few quick fixes that come to mind that will make you OWN the night.

Hair- Neatly pulled back into a chignon; a well-kept bun on the top of your head or a very slick and neat sexy ponytail.

Makeup- Gold, Copper, or Bronze are colors that look great with black and can blend to look natural. These colors look great on almost every skin tone. Choose subtle but classy lashes nothing over the top.

A red lip or natural pink color will be amazing. Please, not the cotton candy colored lip that was favored by Nicki Minaj. Even she has retired that color. Look for a soft natural tone.

Accessories- When it comes to the shoes, they have to make people go “wow”! The shoes choice is what will separate you from the other black foxes. Think about colors that are not too bold but pack a lot of style and shapes that are not outrageous; just sexy and demanding of one’s attention. The clutch is another opportunity to steal a person’s eye. Make it unique and panache.

The jewelry also has to be the of center attention.  According to Askmen.com, “Flirtatious women also tend to fidget more. For example, they might fiddle with their jewelry, twisting rings and tugging at (pearl) necklaces. This is due to nervous excitement; because their hearts are beating a little faster than usual, they need some sort of outlet for their tension when being flirtatious.” So your jewels have to be gorgeous and sophisticated. Consider wearing pearls in a double or triple strand.

So go and enjoy yourself in your little black dress and take plenty of selfies to remember just how great you looked. And for those of you who have not yet brought a closet’s favorite, what are you waiting on??? Get your little black dress, now!
